Limerick City and County Council has submitted an application under Part 8 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001, as amended for the following proposal:
The proposed development will consist of works to the Public Realm at Church Street, Castle Street, The Parade, Nicholas Street and St. Augustine Place, King’s Island. The scheme involves work in the Thomondgate Architectural Conservation Area no. 7.
The proposed development will consist of:
• New paving surface and alterations to footpaths including wider footpaths to pedestrian zones;
• Raised table junctions and carriageway widths altered to allow for traffic calming and pedestrian priority;
• Introduction of a flexible shared surface where the carriageway will be at the same level as the footpath along Nicholas Street between the junctions of Newgate Lane and St. Francis Place and Convent Street and The Parade.
• Street furniture including new seating, trees in planters, planting, bicycle stands, litter bins, lighting, automatic bollards;
• Relocating overhead utilities underground to declutter the streetscape;
• All associated site works.
The scheme involves work in the Thomondgate Architectural Conservation Area no. 7.
